SUMO Wisdom: ditch doris day

1956, Jay Lvingston & Ray Evans wrote a song - 'Que Sera Sera' sang by Doris Day. 'Que Sera Sera, whatever will be, will be, The future's not ours to see...'

  1. Your destiny has not been decided. Nether the moon, the stars nor fate determine it - you do.
  2. Do not adjust your goals to bring them in line with your life. Adjust your lfe to bring you in line with your goals.
  3. Even when your car is running well, it's still good to have it serviced. The same goes for your life. When did you last have a check up?
  4. Unfortunate are those without goals. For they drift along helping someone else to achieve theirs.
  5. Hope is not a strategy.
  6. Start with a molehill, then build the mountain.
  7. Start where you ar with what you have & never lose sight of your dream.

SUMO WISDOM: learn latin

  1. Blessed are the people who do the uncomfortable, for they will often be successful.
  2. When you remain a prisoner to your emotions, you may never know the freedom of success.
  3. If you want to achieve anything in life, remember, setbacks come with the territory.
  4. Failure isn't fatal until you stop trying.
  5. Wake up & smell the coffee. Life at its longest is still fairly short. Shut Up the voice of complacency & Move On to what's important.
  6. When all is said & done, more is said than done.
  7. Right feelings follow right actions. Shut Up the dithering, Move On to the acting.
  8. Eat your sprouts first. Then you can enjoy the rest of the meal. Shut Up the niceties, Move On to the nasties.
  9. Focus on progress not perfection & reward yourself accordingly.
  10. Shut Up trying to do it on your own, Move On to finding a mate to support you.
  11. Zig Ziglar said "At the end of your days, do not be the kind of person who says I wish I had, I wish I had, I wish I had. Be the kind of person who says I'm glad I did, I'm glad I did, I'm glad I did."
  12. Don't leave your dreams in the bin. Shut Up the voice that says 'no way', Move On to the voice that says 'Why not?'

SUMO WISDOM: remember the beachball
  1. If you want to win friends & influence people, start by first trying to understand them.
  2. Never assume that other people value the same things as you. If you want to develop better relationships, find out what is important to the other person.
  3. checkout http://www.thesumoguy.com/
  4. Your feelings influence your perceptions. How are you feeling today?
  5. People are less defensive when you seek to understand their viewpoint rather than try to dismantle it. " Understanding does not mean agreeing."

*Four factors that influence how we see things are:

  • our age
  • our values
  • our personality
  • our current state of mind

SUMO WISDOM: Hippo time is ok
  1. When you deny the negative, you block the road to positive recovery.
  2. Excuse me. Whose hippo time is this? I've started & I'll finish.
  3. To re-tell is re-live & that is not always helpful.
  4. The longer you spend in hippo time, the harder it becomes to move on.
  5. Sometimes it can be very helpful to say about a particular topic, "Lets not go there."
  6. Hippo Time should never be a place of permanent residence. Wallowing is temporary, SUMO is forever.
  • Tips:
  • Be careful who you talk to
  • Be careful how many people you talk to
  • Be careful how long your hippo time lasts

SUMO Wisdom: develop fruity thinking
  1. Reflecting on how we think is one of the most powerful ways we can take more control over our lives.
  2. Be careful what you say to children if they hear it often enough, they begin to believe it.
  3. Beware of BMWs. People who spend their lives bitching, moaning & whinging.
  4. Remember, each of us is complex. None of us is perfect. Mistakes happen. Move on.
  5. It's not simply what you say to yourself that matters. It's how you say it and how much you believe it that counts.
  6. There may be times when the problems of your past don't need to be fixed or sorted - they need to be left behind.
  7. Suffering from the Martyr Syndrome is more a reflection of how you see yourself as opposed to your dedication to serve others.
  8. When I punish me, I am actually trying to punish you. I play the martyr in the hope that I makes you feel guilty.
  9. What you focus on magnifies.
  10. Perhaps it's not the circumstance that need to change, but more your perspective of those circumstances.
  11. If you are not happy with the answers life is giving you, then ask some different questions.
  12. The quality of the solution can depend on the quality of the question.

Four faulty thinking:

  • Broken record
  • Martyr Syndrome
  • Inner Critic
  • Trivial Pursuits

  1. If you want to know who is most responsible for where you are in life, take a look at the mirror.
  2. When a group of vicitm T-shirt wearers get together they hold a blame session.
  3. Taking personal responsibility frees you from the trap of blaming, complaining & resenting.
  4. Your choices are significant. What you do affects who you are & where you end up.
  5. When you wear the victim T-shirt, you become a passenger in your life & allow circumstances & other people to determine your direction.
  6. Some people have become very aware of their rights, but less aware of their responsibilities.
  7. I am not always responsible for what happens to me, but I am responsible for how I choose to respond.
  8. Even if you are a genuine victim, ultimately you need to learn how to become a survivor.
  9. Get off auto-pilot & take back the controls of your life.

Joshua 1:7 (Amplified Bible)
Only you be strong and very courageous, that you may do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you. Turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go.

I like the SUMO principles:
7 questions to help you SUMO

1) Where is this issue on a scale of 1-10?
2) How important will this be in 6 months times?
3) Is my response appropriate and effective?
4) How can I influence or improve the situation?
5) What can I learn from this?
6)What will I do differently next time?
7)What can I find that's positive in this situation?

By applying the SUMO principles to your life, you will discover how to:
*define what success means to you
*Be successful & maintain a balanced life
*Respond honestly & appropriately to setbacks & challenges.
*Maintain your motivation after your initial enthusiasm has worn off.
*Develop successful relationships with others.
*Overcome thinking patterns that can sabotage your success.
Shut Up,Move On - & enjoy the journey.

1 Chronicles 23:5 Four thousand are to be gatekeepers and four thousand are to praise the LORD with the musical instruments I have provided for that purpose."

I've my first piano lesson today by my little niece, Laura. I'm a really slow learner... I guess playing piano is not part of my gifting. Gee, I'm giving Laura some grief to teach me something new. The song I'm learning is Souvenir En France. I love Canon in D yet I find it too tough for me now. The gals were laughing at their aunt.

Psalm 23:6 (Amplified Bible)
Surely or only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days the house of the Lord [and His presence] shall be my dwelling place.

Recollecting the lovely memories of our first long travelling trip to Amsterdam, Paris & London from 24 June 2009 till 7 July 2009. Summer time is great to visit Europe as there is more daylight in a day to do things & sightseeing. Amsterdam is a beautiful city, people are really nice, friendly & helpful. We're so jetlag by the time flying from Sydney to Amsterdam. We had to force ourselves to stay awake to roam around the city via tram after plunk down our luggages at the hotel & a quick wash up. Love the serene & clean city surrounded by many canals & the beautiful boathouses. The locals love to travel by bicycles & vespas. They are minimalists & enviromentalists. Sad facts, Ams is known for the red light districts & legalised weeds, coffee shops. Went to the I AM tourist info to get IAM card before visit tourist attractions. First stop was to visit Madam Tussaud then walked around the square, chinatown, shopping centre and last stop was to take a evening cruise. I reckon cruise is the best way to see the city.

Deuteronomy 29:3 (Amplified Bible)
The great trials which your eyes saw, the signs, and those great wonders.

Witnessing things around me & daily news indicate bad stuffs going around. Planes crashed. Terrorism in Indonesia. H1N1 has taken more lives. Mates that going through trouble times. Greed is seen by using religion name as a cover up. It has created a heated court case of monk Mingyi.
Need to put faith in God, not people. Most people are untrustworthy.

Proverbs 27:10 (The Message)
Don't leave your friends or your parents' friends and run home to your family when things get rough; Better a nearby friend than a distant family.

It is awesome to catch up with my mates that hardly see one another due to geographical challenges. Lisa, the journalist, now a full time mom running after her 2 kids lovely kids: Sara 5+ & Aslan 2+. She has transformed from a careerwoman to an amazing supermom. My Godson, Samuel, is getting taller each time I meet him. Reality is we are getting older, Chingli, a family practioner, her eyesight is getting worse. Simple joy in life that we learn to treasure as we grow wiser & mature. Pray for mates that facing challenging time of their lives.

Psalm 91 1-13
You who sit down in the High God's presence, spend the night in Shaddai's shadow,
Say this: "God, you're my refuge. I trust in you and I'm safe!"
That's right—he rescues you from hidden traps, shields you from deadly hazards.
His huge outstretched arms protect you— under them you're perfectly safe;his arms fend off all harm. Fear nothing—not wild wolves in the night, not flying arrows in the day, Not disease that prowls through the darkness, not disaster that erupts at high noon. Even though others succumb all around, drop like flies right and left, no harm will even graze you. You'll stand untouched, watch it all from a distance, watch the wicked turn into corpses. Yes, because God's your refuge, the High God your very own home, Evil can't get close to you, harm can't get through the door. He ordered his angels to guard you wherever you go. If you stumble, they'll catch you; their job is to keep you from falling. You'll walk unharmed among lions and snakes, and kick young lions and serpents from the path. 14-16 "If you'll hold on to me for dear life," says God, "I'll get you out of any trouble. I'll give you the best of care if you'll only get to know and trust me. Call me and I'll answer, be at your side in bad times; I'll rescue you, then throw you a party. I'll give you a long life, give you a long drink of salvation!"

Ps4:7,8 Why is everyone hungry for more? "More, more," they say. "More, more." I have God's more-than-enough, more joy in one ordinary day.Than they get in all their shopping sprees. At day's end I'm ready for sound sleep, For you, God, have put my life back together.
It gives me an impression of gloominess & sense of heaviness in S'pore. Wondering is the bad economy & H1N1 (Swine flu) scare. I found people around me are in trouble & sufferings. This make me recalled a prophecy was spoken to be in Sydney 3 years ago. A prophetic pastor from the Entrance, Raymond, said he saw a screen. There is a ball in the middle, growing bigger & bigger...water surounded the ball seems to bubbling up & heating up. He said the ball represented me. I'm saved. But people around seem to be all in huge trouble.
My sis's mate's brother only less 35years old just dropped died suddenly from his workplace working on his PC. His workmates tried to performed CPR, he was revived shortly. Sent by Ambulance to NUH. Sadly, they couldn't revive him. Leaving behind a yound widow & 3 little children 4, 3 & 2 years old. I hope he didn't suffered much. Pray that his soul is saved & in heaven. Pray that his family is well looked after by loved ones & protection from You, Lord. This is one of the many incidents.

There's a Right Time for Everything
There's an opportune time to do things, a right time for everything on the earth:
A right time for birth and another for death,
A right time to plant and another to reap,
A right time to kill and another to heal,
A right time to destroy and another to construct,
A right time to cry and another to laugh,
A right time to lament and another to cheer,
A right time to make love and another to abstain,
A right time to embrace and another to part,
A right time to search and another to count your losses,
A right time to hold on and another to let go,
A right time to rip out and another to mend,
A right time to shut up and another to speak up,
A right time to love and another to hate,
A right time to wage war and another to make peace.

Finally, I've my own blog with my niece assistance. Thanks, Rach. I've learnt something new. It is pretty cool. Fancy to read what is in my mind. It is a reverse culture shock in S'pore, not use to have constant companions, crowd & white noise. Need to learn to filter fast.

Just arrived S'pore on 7/7/09. Felt soooo jetlag. Did nothing much accept eat & sleep. My Bro gave us a treat at Long Beach, Demsey. Ate my fav S'pore chilli crabs... ;p Nursing my cold, sinus problem, skin allergy condition...seen a Dr in Raffles medical centre on 11/7/09. (My folks has made a big fuss, insisted on following me to the Dr Office.) So embarassing :(
